I grew up in Bangladesh playing cricket with friends in the street. I was also a university teacher there for a while, and one of my favorite parts of that job was organizing students for events and activities outside the classroom.
Back then, my idea of a perfect trip was a long overnight bus ride to the sea beach. I loved it. But after moving to the United States and starting to explore the mountains of West Virginia, I realized โ I am actually a mountain person. The sea is beautiful, but mountains do something different to me.
This page is a small window into life outside the screen.
๐ฃ On the Water
Kayaking is one of my favorite things to do now. Early mornings on calm water, before the day gets loud โ that is the best part. I do not think about work. I just paddle.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ With Family
Some of the best days are the simple ones. A bike ride, a walk in the park, a random place we found together. No plan, no rush.
๐ฅพ Outside, Moving Around
I like being outside in any form โ biking, hiking, sitting somewhere quiet. Moving around helps clear my head. The mountains especially. West Virginia has become one of my favorite places to just go and breathe.
๐พ Tennis
I picked up tennis after coming to the US. I am not great at it, but I enjoy it. It is good exercise and it gets me away from the screen for a couple of hours.
๐ Slow Moments
Camping, fishing late at night, sitting by the water โ these do not look productive. But they are the moments where I feel most reset. Sometimes you just need to do nothing for a while.
๐ง What I Am Into Right Now
At the moment I am spending a lot of time on DIY projects โ setting up a fish tank, doing some woodworking, gardening, and fixing or upgrading things around the house. I am starting to collect those stories in DIY Projects, where I will share the things I build away from the keyboard.
๐ธ More Moments
A few extra photos I did not want to leave out.
Life outside work is not separate from who I am. Cricket taught me teamwork. The mountains taught me patience. Family keeps me grounded. And the DIY projects remind me that building things with your hands feels just as good as building things with code.
